Upcoming Google changes in October will make non secure websites unavailable
It’s time we talk about SSL certificates
Why is this happening?
Websites that send information via online forms or have any input fields (including a keyword search field) will be required starting in October 2018 to have SSL certificates in place. Otherwise Chrome will show a notification like the one above when visitors go to your website. Other browsers are expected to implement this change soon as well.
What do you need to do?
If you do not have an SSL certificate for your website, we can discuss adding one right away.
What happens if I choose not to add an SSL certificates?
Visitors using Chrome will receive a notification when visiting your website saying that it is not secure and not to share any information via the website.
Also, websites that do not have SSL certificates will get penalized by Google and this will negatively affect your Google ranking. SSL certificates will become a factor in SEO and how pages behave organically in search.
